BALLET DEVIARE has experienced a myriad of catastrophes and tragedies within the past two years. Two years of dealing with institutions concerned with death or recovery-hospitals, rehab facilities, nursing homes, hospices, etc. The result of all this pain is reflected in the newest BALLET DEVIARE production, Memento Mori.

Performances of Memento Mori are scheduled for May 23, 24, and 25, 2008, at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City, including three world premiers by NEGURA BUNGET, FUNERAL, and a new song from NYC's black, death and folk metal band, GWYNBLEIDD. GWYNBLEIDD will be performing live for the production and includes a track from their forthcoming release. We will also be performing to CELESTIIAL, japanische kampfhoerspiele (JaKa) and ARSIS, as seen on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball. Seating is limited and tickets will go fast.

Memento Mori is Latin for "remember your death." BALLET DEVIARE chose this phrase for its next performance to both confront our common element of death and to celebrate the fact we still cast shadows on the earth. Without an understanding of our temporality, how the can we live each day to the fullest?

BALLET DEVIARE has established an international following with their powerful performances infused with contemporary heavy metal music. This is not your mother's ballet, but "a soul-entrancing interpretation of art otherwise on the decline," according to Todd DePalma of Stylus Magazine.

BALLET DEVIARE could not put on their extraordinary performances without the help of their supporters.  Special thanks go out to Diana K Lighting, Grind House Studios, Lukasz Drapala, SoundPole, Solar Hive, Foodswings, Phlegeton Art Studio, Tony Koehl, RiddickArt, Forest Media Consulting, Materials For The Arts, and to our many loyal, diehard enthusiasts.

To purchase tickets, visit www.balletdeviare.org. Seats are $50 each, but a discount price of $25 is available for those going through the rough or doldrums. If necessary, when purchasing just enter discount code MM2008.

New York, NY - The world’s premiere heavy metal ballet company, New York City-based BALLET DEVIARE, proudly announces its next production, entitled Memento Mori. Performances are scheduled for May 23, 24, and 25, 2008, at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City with a live performance by special guests from NYC’s black, death and folk metal band, Gwynbleidd. Seating is limited and based on previous attendance, tickets will sell out quickly.

BALLET DEVIARE has established an international following based on their engaging live performances infused with contemporary heavy metal music. With this blending of seemingly incongruous artistic styles, BALLET DEVIARE is taking the concept of ballet where it has never been confirming the company as both innovative and a challenge to the calcified concepts of ‘high art.’  “A soul-entrancing interpretation of art otherwise on the decline,” adds Todd DePalma of Stylus Magazine.

Memento Mori, a Latin phrase, is translated loosely as remember you will die. Ballet Deviare uses this phrase for its next performance not only to recognize our mortality, but also to celebrate living. Without an understanding of our temporality, how can we live each day to the fullest?

BALLET DEVIARE could not put on their extraordinary performances without the help of their supporters.  The production of Memento Mori could not have been brought to the stage without contributions from Diana K Lighting, Grind House Studios, Lukasz Drapala, SoundPole, Solar Hive, Foodswings, Phlegeton Art Studio, Tony Koehl, RiddickArt, Forest Media Consulting and Materials For The Arts.

To purchase tickets, visit balletdeviare.org. Seats are $50 each, but a discount price of $25 is available. When purchasing, use discount code MM2008.
